Sunday, 22 October 2006 – World Mission Sunday

THEME: STORY OF JESUS IN THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH IN ASIA
OVERVIEW:

Today is the formal celebration of WORLD MISSION SUNDAY and the conclusion of the FIRST ASIAN MISSION CONGRESS.To celebrate and link with the local Church in Chiang Mai, Congress participants will be joined by a large contingent of local Catholics.

To facilitate communication and to enable the local Catholics to identify with the Congress, the Thai language will be used for some of the presentations. The final “faith sharer” of the Congress will focus on Thai Tribals and their journey in faith. A summary of the Congress will also be presented in the local language.

The formal closing ceremonies will comprise a Congress Synthesis, the Congress Resolutions, and acknowledgements of persons and groups pivotal in this First Asian Mission Congress.

The final highpoint of the morning will be the World Mission Sunday 2006 Eucharistic celebration, presided by Crescenzio Cardinal Sepe. The liturgy will be enhanced by various additional mission ceremonies.

Optional recreational activities will be provided in the afternoon.
